July 18 - From Naples it's not a long drive to Rome. And in that area, in the historic city of Tivoli, we have a concert in a few days -- but a kind offer from friends to stay there for the days off before the show - at the very house where the concert will be.

Some great meals!

And, on the day of the show...

(I had mentioned, and promised not to repeat, that it's hot here!)
Anyway, on the day of the show, finally some rain.. the first in ages. Somehow it still didn't cool things down, but it did threaten to ruin our outdoor show, with no roof over the stage...
We set up tentatively...

Keeping an eye on the sky...

Nice spot for power on a rainy day!

The concert was fine - no rain. It was one of those very damp settings where your instrument is wet from just the humidity, and any equipment on the grass was also wet from it ... but a nice show for a great group of people.

And, after...

another meal!

Great, isn't it. Amazing how nice some times can be out on the road.

But this was one of those real 'rock tour' nights in more ways than the meal... here we are late at night, after packing up and eating, saying goodnight to our pals who had put on the event

and here we are, early morning... about 2 hours later... saying good morning to the guys who have come back, to drive us to the airport for an early morning flight!

A brutal day's effort for them, to drive us to Roma airport with little or no sleep. And not the easiest day for us -- changing plane in Madrid, to fly to Gran Canarias -- my first trip to the islands off the African coast.

We're staying in Las Palmas -- a very cool place. (in both senses of the word -- wow, nice to have a break from the heat this Summer.)

Another night off ... this is like vacation!

Wow!

The concert: at a lovely hall

We've now incorporated "Thela Hun Ginjeet" into our set

Nice show, very nice place -- I'll hope to come back and spend more time.

Up early, flight thru Madrid to Rome. Then a bit of a drive, to the Alatri in Blues Festival.

Got there none too early for our soundcheck, but pretty great having some time in this old city center.
I wandered while they checked the drums

Am I right in thinking it's time to go to the next page, so this one won't take forever to build!
