Page 13 - In which we encounter canyons, clubs,
quilts, Tools, pixie pics, Starbucks searches, mileage math,
and lots of driving.

  Oct. 21, Los Angeles

Bit of a quilting milestone - I've finished (finally) sewing the triangles together into squares -- they're all set...

(well, one to go) - then set to... to begin sewing all the squares together, to look like it does when they're laid out on a hotel desk!

So, back to work quilting!

The venue in Agoura Hills, Canyon Club, is one I hadn't played before

My wife Andi flew in for this show, and to see her long absent husband!

(No, she's not a pixie, they have some big chairs here!)

Actually, she is kind of small! But anyway, here's proof about the chair -- unless my daughter Maggie and her Matt are also pixies!

He does look like he could be a leprechaun here... a little Photoshop...

Elsewhere in the club...

and...

I loved the sound at this club - possibly because they have a lot of carpets and sofas in the room, to eat up some of the reflected volume. Hope we get to return.

A lot of friends and family at the show. And Tool drummer Danny Carey was watching the show and sat in a bit at the end... he'll be substituting in the next three shows for Tobias Ralph, who has a drum festival commitment to leave for. Both Adrians set and the Crimson encores are not the easiest music in the world to learn... we wish him good luck tomorrow!

  Oct. 22, Santa Ana

Today will be the last California show before heading Eastward.

Mucho rehearsal with Danny at the soundcheck...

Coffees arrive just in time...

and we're on...

and here are some shots from the full 6 piece Crimson set...

I'm not sure who or what this is, but I like it!

I have to work on getting my 'bow shots' more in focus!

Cool show.

Tomorrow we begin the last week of our tour!

It's been a great one -- lots of music for lots of wonderful people who care to share it.

This week's shows will be good, of course, but it'd be hard to ignore the driving factor. As we leave the West Coast, we're looking at 3,500 miles to drive in the next 8 days, before the van arrives back in Kingston, NY.

Hardly a direct line, of course, since the country is only about 2,990. Onward!   Oct. 23, Corona, CA

Morning seems to come earlier lately.
Drove a half hour last night after the show, to get out of the congestion and a bit toward Phoenix.
Mornings like this we have to hunt down a Starbucks before hitting the road ... I'm using Vlingo app to locate one, but wondering if I should just book hotels that are near them! Maybe need to have the hotel web sites list how many meters away from espresso!!

Nice club, which I haven't played before.

Promoter Danny Zelisko, a friend for many years, introduces the show...

Nice being in Phoenix again.

Morning has us driving to Santa Fe, New Mexico.

We forgot to factor in the time change (lost an hour) so we arrived a bit late, and were just starting soundcheck as the audience came in!

Danny's last night sitting in with us...
