Day 11: Oct. 16 - On to Pratteln, Switzerland

Finally we can sleep in for a morning. Twelve o clock leave, meant the band members could have a leisurely breakfast, or take it easy, or, like me, sleep until quarter to twelve!

A mere two or three hour drive seems like a picnic to us. Then, on the outskirts of Basel, we found the venue and hotel, in Pratteln.

Kind of odd hotel. I'll admit I never saw one like this - the staff only work during the day - room "keys" are just a pass number you key into the door lock - if you forget it or lose it while at the show... you'll have to wait outside your room until morning! But we're leaving early - very early. 4:30 am is the plan! - so there'll be no waiting around for the staff to come in.
With no desk to call us (hey, there's no phone in these rooms anyway) it's fallen to Larry and Jesse, the guys with alarm clocks, to wake us all up at 4am, for lobby call a half hour later.

But the venue is cool - you could tell approaching the building that it's a rock club, and a big one - should be good sound in there.

And they've got laundry machines... YAY. (I've been out on the road for a week longer than the others, so it's looking mighty good to me!)

Show was fine - the last one with Tom Greisgraber and Jerry Marotta as the opening act - we'll miss Tom as we head to Hungary and Russia without him. Also will be saying goodbye tomorrow to Marco Parisi, our wonderful Italian promoter who put the whole tour together, and has driven us for all of it so far.

My friend Pierre Emile Bertona is taking photos tonight, as well as last night, and kindly allows me to use them on the site, so starting with this one, there will be finally high quality shots of what the band looks like.
I'll distribute some of them through the coming diaries, too. There haven't been many photos of the band onstage.

As for my pictures, the camera has been a bit whacky lately - the flash often not working (it's been shakey ever since the Peter Gabriel show when it got kicked onstage!) So tonite's shot of the audience is kind of psychadelic.

Onward, ever onward... next page is our first "day off", but it'll be a busy one.
