Applehead Studios, in Woodstock NY, is the scene of these recording sessions for the next Tony Levin CD.

"Tony Levin Band" might be a better name for the group, since it's the band we've been touring with since last year; Jerry Marotta on drums, Jesse Gress on guitars, and Larry Fast ("Mr. Synergy" as Peter Gabriel used to introduce him on tour) on synths.

Robert Frazza, who does our live sound, is engineering with Chris Bittner assisting and running ProTools. The studio is a new one, in a recently built barn just outside Woodstock, where most of us live. (Ironically, it was Applehead Studio, in it's previous site, where we recorded King Crimson's Vrooom CD.)

Lots is going on with these sessions, and some very interesting music is coming out - Jerry is playing some sax (as in our live show,) and acoustic guitar on one piece (in which we'll all play acoustics in next years touring.)
We've all joined in on some minimal vocals on a couple of pieces, and aside from a wealth of new material, we've recorded "remakes" of two older compositions I particularly like, one an unreleased piece of Peter Gabriel's, and the other from one of Larry's Synergy albums.

We're just wrapping up now (Aug. 12) with the tracking done, but a lot of pre-mix work to be done. The rough plan for the album (when will we ever be able to predict releases acurately?) is to turn it in to the record company in October and start working for a release somewhere between January and March. Then we'll go out and tour with the new material as much as possible.
