Leaving L.A, we had another airport trip in that Hummer limo,
with some mixed feelings because this tour is ending today...
I should say, for the other guys, band and crew, it's the end of a year touring with Dream Theater. Maybe they'll be glad to not see each other
for a bit! (But of course they'll be up and running again with the band before long.)
Airport delays... nothing unusual there...
Soundcheck, at the Independent Theater, was pretty hectic -- three bands on before us, at this one stage.
Backstage, waiting for the 11:30pm start time
Then... Whee...
One of the jams got wilder than usual... Jordan, John and Mike all playing the piano...
There was also the beard incident!
Mike's beard is long and he normally keeps the bottom part tied together... here, I have evidence, from the dressing room before the show:
and, for reasons I will not try to explain, during the encore jam, John, equipped with scissors, cut off the beard. (preceded by one of the strangest
two man dances ever performed on a prog rock stage!)
And so...
And so, with this unique momento(!) be bring to a close this 10 year anniversary tour of Liquid Tension Experiment.
The show was a ball, as was the whole tour.
My thanks to David Ordas and Eric Disrude, who took care of our backline, and to Stewart Wilson, who did both front of house sound, and monitors. (You've seen
their pictures throughout these pages.)
My thanks, especially, to the audiences, who shared their enthusiasm with us across the country.
I have more photos from the tour, which I'll soon put up on another page, along with some nice ones by others.
Onward!
