November 25: Peter's band assembled in Bath for rehearsals.
Great having the guys together again, of course. Not much time to work out a set for the show this week: Nelson Mandela's 46664 concert, for world Aids Day.
November 29: We took the long flight to Johannesburg, and soon enough we were setting up equipment at the stadium for the following day's show.
Before we'd really sorted out our soundcheck, it began to rain
And, as has been the theme with Peter's touring this year, when it rains, it really rains!
Dec. 1: Show day - and the weather had completely changed - hot and sunny, as one might expect in Africa.
After our set, we left the stage, but the performance was far from over. Groups had been playing before Peter, and would continue on into the night, but now it was time
for all the performers to gather behind the stage...
And to go out onstage together to greet Nelson Mandela, and stand behind him as he gave his speech.
(Where else to you get this perspective, folks!) ... and, while I'm building the tension, I'd say it's time to move to another page.
