May 29, Lisbon
A dream-like day for me, and a dream-like night for everyone.
We arrived from Paris at about 6pm - got a little rest in the hotel because, with no soundcheck, our showtime was scheduled at 1:30 am.
Though I don't usually sleep that early in the evening, even if I need to, this time I'd taken some medication, so sleep came easily - but waking wasn't
very thorough -- I spent much of the night wondering if this was reality or a dream.
I was never explained to me why the "Rock in Rio" festival is in Lisbon, not Rio. But here it was, indeed - with a whole lot of people enjoying
a whole lot of groups playing.
The weather was warm and humid - the sky overhead, amazingly radiant with puffy clouds hanging low, easily visible in the night.
We arrived at the venue to catch the last part of Ben Harper's set - it was great, and I had a whole minute or two to hang out with the band before it
was time to don the robe and head for stage!
Set was shorter than usual, and with a normal stage format, the focus was on the music.
Cool chain curtain on the stage
Did I mention, there were a LOT of people!
A great night!
We're off now to England, where the next show will be in Birmingham.
