April 14, Bratislava, Slovak Republic
We drove most of the trip from Zurich yesterday.
Stopped for lunch in Innsbruck, where Markus lives. Very lovely
So today, the day after, we only had a couple hours in the van.
Checked into the hotel in Bratislava, then over to the venue, which is a museum.
Every time I start feeling I've experienced everything on the road, something like today comes along to remind me how many
situtations there are in the concert world.
We weren't in a concert hall inside a museum, more like on a stage among the exhibits.
And the room was made for the exhibits, not concerts --
long and narrow - so the width of the stage was such that Markus and I had to stand in front of Pat and the drums. But there was plenty of
depth there - in fact, Pat was so far in back of us he was almost not in the band!
But, wouldn't you know it, the sound was excellent, and when we adapted to the strange positioning onstage, we had a great time.
Most of my photos are from soundcheck - the glass walls of the room revealed all kinds of interesting things.
Pat's checking to see if this beer is a museum display or something we can drink!
We're all dressed up for this one...
so here's the show:
Very cool. We'll hope to come back one day.
Tomorrow, a long drive to Reichenbach, but no concert there until the night after.
April 16, Reichenbach
We're playing in a small club tonight -- I like to get photos of the marquee where we
play ... this one is pretty humble! But it says it all.
The walls here are adorned with guitars and interesting vintage music gear
They barbequed up some food for us at soundcheck...
as you'd guess, being here in Germany, it was pretty heavy on the meat!
Some equipment repairs... not surprising at this point in the tour
my Siberian fuzztone is falling apart
oops...
hmm... seems like more beers on that table every time I look!
The dressing room... a nice parlor upstairs in the house of the club!
Here we go...
intermission, back in the dressing room... signing cd's
Really fun tonight -- people came from near and far to hear our music. We'll hope to be back here again.
Tomorrow, Muenster.
