June 28 - drive to Milan, fly to Lisbon
A few hours driving across the Northern part of Italy ... rest stops are typical.
That's Francesco, our promoter, and van driver(!) I took the photo because it looked like they're dumping ice cream on his head. (Which might have been
a good way to cool off!)
Though we're flying from Malpensa airport, we stopped by Linate, where we'd flown in, to see if they'd found my suitcase, and ...
Yay, there it was.
Boy, it'll be good having my pedals - not to mention more clothes.
Threw it into the van seat to re-arrange stuff before flying out... yes, I did notice the "rush" notice on it!
On to our flight. The usual scuffle in checking in, to avoid paying too much overweight ... and by evening we were in Lisbon.
Next morning, out wandering. It's a beautiful city.
The venue is a club located under a bridge ... quite a picturesque part of town.. and old stone arches inside...
We were impressed by the audiences energy and enthusiasm, since earlier in the evening their Portugal team had been elimitated from the
World Cup.
An excellent show all around.
Next morning, early, found us back at the airport to fly to Barcelona.
Again the luggage fuss... whew, they even weigh the carry on bags now...
In Barcelona, a brief stop at the hotel, and we're off to the club.
Ready to go on, and Michael displays his setlist in what has to be one of the oddest passages to a stage.
Pretty striking seeing Pat play with a projection of the Soup CD cover behind him...
Not a bad resemblance, considering that the cover is Michael's painting of us sitting at a table with soup...
I'm not taking many photos at these shows because I'm busy with the music, and with my new pedal rig (now that I have it again)... likely as the
tour goes on I'll be able to take more.
Anyway, we really enjoyed both the Lisbon and Barcelona shows - Madrid and Bilbao shows have been cancelled, so we next head to Madrid airport, to
fly to Warsaw for the show there.
More soon!
