October 21, today's show is in Opole, Poland.
We've played it before - there's a great drum festival yearly, that brings in lots of groups.
But at 7am, leaving Berlin at sunrise... excitement isn't high.
A number of hours and bumpy highways later, we're here
and ready to setup for the show, in the local theater
The billing of tonight's show is both Stick Men and Terry Bozzio -- we're looking forward to a great show. But first Terry's huge drum
kit needs to be assembled.
I have some experience in watching Michel do this before - Pat and I toured with Terry a couple of years ago
And this time I have my wide angle lense handy, to help show what this drum kit looks like...
I feel better now, about my maybe having too many foot pedals...
The show will be, first a set of Terry, then of Stick Men, then we'll do a set together.
The plan is to do that last set all improvised. But we run down B'boom and Thrak, to be able to do those as a closing piece.
It's a drum festival... and there'll certainly be a lot of drumming tonight!
Terry starts the show with a half hour of solo drumming
We did a half hour of Stick Men pieces, mostly from the new album, then brought Terry back onstage to join in,
and did a very cool improv set.
At the end, as planned, the two Crimson pieces, which have large improv sections too
As hoped, this was great fun.
We now go back to shows on our own, but will join Terry again in a week, for a show at the Frankfurt Jazz Festival.
