October 27, - Frankfurt.
We're here to be part of the Jazz Festival, playing alongside Terry Bozzio for the second time on our tour.
Don't worry, they know we're not jazz players - I believe this festival has a variety of styles. We'll do some improvising with Terry, and maybe
play a few pieces of our own - what style of music it's called is not up to me - I'm just a player!
Nice hall
Typically in festival type shows, with a number of bands sharing the stage, your gear gets put on wheels, taken off-stage after soundcheck and
hopefully wheeled back in again quickly when it's your turn to play.
These are my amps
I know one thing: my little amps are a lot easier to wheel around than Terry's drum kit!
Can't resist more pics of his setup
Also, glad to have another chance, at soundcheck, to grab some photos of Terry himself
When you're doing a lot of improvised music, it's great to have a full moon, (puts us all into a different space!)
And it's quite a sky tonight
Showtime
Terry starts things off with a set of solo drumming
They're filming and recording everything tonight.
Then we go on, do a few pieces of our own, and then back with Terry, in a long improv piece (where I finally had a second to
pick up my camera!)
Pretty darn good playing, but we have the most disorganized bow ever
Great fun - we had a wonderful time, and I'm hoping we can get the recording of tonights music and maybe make something out of it.
Tomorrow Stick Men will fly to Kiev, for our show there the next day -- my first time every playing in that grand city.
You can be sure I'll take a lot of photos!
More soon.
