Day 9: Oct. 13 - Prato show day
Last night's Rome show was great, but it went really late, and we were ages packing up. So, having got
back to the hotel around 3:30am, thence to make phone calls and get online, we're dragging this morning as we straggle down
for the 9:30am van trip to Prato.
But, typical of the road, you never know what's coming next -- a great lunch awaited us in Prato. More than a great lunch, a
monumentally great one. This is Tuscany, and the food and wine are fantastic. Before sitting down we went to a wine-cellar room
for a ritual greeting to the restaurant - local cheeses, the first of the wine, a special local bread and some small treats...
were we just grumbling in the van? We can't remember that far back.
Hmm... this doesn't look like the vegetarian dish to me!
Of course we end things the right way...
And aside from that smile Marco is wearing... a new t-shirt - we were all given them. Here's a closeup:
Oh yes, there was something about a show we have to play tonight. And, quite a bit less fun, a load in of equipment and
soundcheck. Dropped off our things at the hotel and right over to the theater - a beautiful old theater, in classic style.
The show was great for us. Still some technical problems, but we're having more and more fun with the new material. And the
audiences seem to be really enjoying the music. (Tonight I moved my Italian song to be the first encore - felt risky to me since
I'm not a very experienced singer, and a ballad for encore is a challenge even when it's in your own language. Anyway, that's
part of the fun, moving things around and trying things out.
Back to the hotel after the show - all very tired, it's been a long couple of days. I inadvertantly went to the wrong floor (the
fourth floor - should have remembered that my room 406 was on the third floor.) Anyway, all that's on the fourth floor is a
door with sign to enter at your own risk, and a picture of a not-too-ferocious Westie! Made me miss my two Westies, way back home... but I
don't really think that is the picture to scare folks away from that door.
