Belgium
It's May 11, and we're going to Verviers, in Belgium.
We find we're staying outside of the town we're playing, in fact the hotel is in a different town. That is is usual on this tour - in fact, I've considered
re-naming the tour the Not Really Appearing At tour. Let's see, in Rome we stayed at a lake quite a ways from Rome, and the club, a brewery, was quite
a bit outside of town - enough that some people had trouble getting to it.
Then on the island of Elba, we certainly played in Elba, but again stayed in a different town than the gig. Then played Forligno (right in the center - Yay!) but
stayed in a different city, Perugia. But didn't stay in Perugia, but on the outskirts. Likewise the Florence clinic was in a town on the outskirts.
Torino, we played and stayed in the city - again a treat! The Milano gig wasn't really in Milano, nor was the Treviso one. In Reggio nell Emilia we stayed out
at the airport, and the gig was near there. Zurich, again, not really in Zurich.
Okay, you get the drift.
Here are the audience pictures from Spirit of 66, the club in Verviers - we loved the club and the audience as well - you'll see why.
In Karlsruhe, the club was aptly named Substage - we arrived in our van, saw the sign but couldn't find any entrance, or even a
building. That's because it's underground, with just a street and train line overhead.
Nice show for us - you can see from the photos that the ceiling is a bit low! Fortunately there was no huge noise when trains passed overhead, up on the street.
Last night someone gave me a photo of the Gabriel Band, way back when. Jerry, Larry and I are there in it, though we've sure changed a bit!
Munich ... show just ended, I'm going to throw a couple of photos up quickly:
