July 30, Bratislava, Slovakia
After the Crimson ProjeKCt had a week off in Europe that took us to various places, the three of us in Stick Men have a show here in Bratislava.
We've played concerts at the museum here before, enjoying the audiences and the very distinctive nature of the building.
But tonight's show is outdoors in the gardens of the museum.
It rained on and off through the day, and there was talk of maybe moving the show indoors - but it was decided to go with the outside show.
Dressing room is, as we're used to, in the museum office
Though we've been playing shows all Summer, it's different when it's a Stick Men show without Adrian, Julie and Tobias ... we're re-visiting material we don't have
time to do in the Crimson ProjeKCt shows, and that's fun for us.
Let me share a true-ism about outdoor shows:
When it rains you usually keep playing, though it gets less pleasant for the audience - but if there's lightning, you need to stop.
That's what happened about an hour into our set, and I think it's pretty well illustrated by these two consecutive photos I took:
We remained onstage a few minutes, protecting the pedals with plastic and hoping we'd be able to continue
But the storm just didn't stop
It's hard to say there was a good news element to this, but... if you had to have a show stopped after an hour,
this was the right place - right next to the
museum pub, where the museum brews it's own very good beer, (notice the vats) and the audience and band can dry off together
They got a lot more pictures of me than I did of them... and we shared a nice hour watching the storm.
Hopefully the hour's music and the followup in the pub was enough to make it a successful night all around.
For the band, 5am lobby call to catch a flight to Frankfurt and drive to the Aschaffenburg show

July 31, here in Aschaffenburg, the club is a familiar one, called Colos-Saal.
And, a few years back, the club had a photo taken of me, in the distinctive style they like, for a picture on the wall...
Here's an amusing picture Julie caught, of me looking it over
Me, I was studying the camera details
Good to be back with Adrian and his band
and there's been a change, for these last three Crimson ProjeKCt shows of the tour, drummer Tobias Ralph had other commitments and had to leave, so
Swedish drummer Morgan Agren has joined us to fill in.
He and Pat get right into practicing their duo solo sections for the show
Still soundcheck, and I'm noticing that Adrian will have quite a bit of viewing me on the wall as he sings tonight
The show gets underway with Markus:
Then the drummers
I think it's freaking Adrian out a little to have me on his left and on his right!
Morgan does a great job - this isn't easy music.
More soon!
