August 3, Bodø, Norway
This is the furthest north I've ever been on the planet - it's up pretty near the Arctic Circle.
Stick Men have come here to be part of the Nordland Musikkfestuke, a week of concerts in and around the lovely city of Bodø (I've done my ASCII homework to
find the correct "ø" to use!)
We arrived in the evening yesterday - our luggage didn't make it, so we're facing starting today with the same clothes, and without much of our equipment - but
it's very good to have a little free time here to look around.
As expected, it stayed light all night - but we weren't out partying - the 6am trip yesterday, three flights and lost luggage, made going to bed seem a pretty good
idea.
These pictures are larger than I normally upload -- hope it's not a problem if you're viewing with a cellphone!
The harbor at Bodø
And today we got to go out in a boat and cruise out to Kjerringøy island.
The views are spectacular
The guys were, needless to say, having a great time. This sure beats slooging around airports.
With one of our great hosts
On the trip back we we offered some dried codfish - the local specialty
we did taste some, but this fish somewhat survived the trip!
'hey, why can't I get online here?'
Our show at night was part of the Nordland Music Festival - a week of shows in clubs, theaters and atop mountains.
We were in a club:
And an excellent singer/guitarist, Terje Nohr, lives here - he sat in with us for two Crimson songs, Frame By Frame and Heartbeat.
(I'll be the first to admit, I had trouble with the pronounciation when I introduced him!)
After the show, backstage...
we marvelled at what a day this had been...
at about 1am, walked back to our hotel (still light out) and packed for another early morning travel day.
This was certainly a memorable stop on our tour -- hope we get to return one day.
Next tour diary page, in a couple of days, will be from the last Crimson ProjeKCt show of this Summer's tour - in L'Aquila, Italy.
