Sept 18 - New York City
We're here for a four night stand - the longest of the tour.
And it's back at the former Nokia Theater where we ended our tour in 2008.
I have some other memories from this place too - years ago, I borrowed the women's restroom here to shoot a video of my
track Speedbump. (Choreographed by my daughter, Maggie Levin.)
(Yes, using that pink ladies room to simulate an airport men's room was a fairly strange idea.)
Anyway, very good to be back here - it's quite a nice place.
With soundcheck and backstage time, a lot of our day consists of practicing
Well... they're practicing. What I'm doing is trying to figure a way to get all three drummers in one shot... sort of did it here with mirrors
The nightly Fripp/Levin shot:
Audience is in and seated...
You'll have noticed, I'm not taking pictures during the show, as I usually do... in fact I can hardly remember a tour where I didn't.
But with this show starting by playing a tape of us asking the audience not to take photos, I think it'd be pretty inappropriate to come onstage and whip out the camera!
I suppose some feel I shouldn't be taking them during the bows either - though I notice I'm not the only one doing that!
Anyway, jumping to the end of the show, here are the great folks who came to share the music with us
Nothing more from the show, but here's yet another shot of the drummers - our front line in the concert and the focus of much of the new arrangements
This being a multi-night stay in New York, I'll go right into the pictures from Friday, our second day.
But let me first mention something I didn't get to announce at the Crimson shows; Stick Men will be playing here in New York,
at the Iridium club, exactly a month from now, Oct 18 and 19th.
There, I had to say it!
Back at the theater, more practicing at soundcheck
Why is he never lost? The tie is a map of NY City!
Heading on
and...
More coming soon, from our next two shows here.
