You arrive in Nice, and right away notice the sweet smell and unique character of the light in this part of France.
Then, at this particular venue (for the Nice Jazz Festival, which I'm told has long branched out to include more than jazz) the setting
is unique.
Picture a field of olive trees - not the spot most organizers would want to put a stage, but here that's exactly what they've done. A number
of small stages sprinkled through the fields, with beautiful olive trees throughout.
Of course, it makes for a curious view of the stage for most viewers.
And, as we were to find when we went on stage, lots of kids climb up in the small trees for a really good view of the show! (See the photo
at page top.)
We wandered around a bit, seeing other stages, but mostly stayed in our backstage area.
So, what do you see from the stage in that setting?
A lot of people, and a lot of trees!
Pretty cool. It was a really special show, both from the setting and the feeling from the crowd. Another memorable night as we head
toward the end of this tour.
