May 8, Berlin
A day off yesterday, in rainy Amsterdam. I didn't even see the others in the band all day. Spent much time getting caught up on my photos and
web page, went out a few times, for coffee, and got some tulip bulbs for next year's garden. (Always good, on the road, to remind
yourself you have a life back at home!)
We flew to Berlin and checked in to the hotel for just a quick luggage dropoff before going to soundcheck. I remember this hotel from previous
tours. It's a nice one. Not sure what the best feature is, but the most interesting feature is in the bathroom. Angled mirrors face the
toilet (no, I'm not making this up) so that when seated on it, you see your reflection, but reversed - that is, if you raise your right
hand, it's the opposite one that you see raised. Most curious, especially why they designed this feature into all the bathrooms.
That, and a quick photo of a flower in the hotel lobby, were all I got to see of Berlin before heading over to the venue for soundcheck.
Took quite a few shots in the backstage area before the show - here are some:
Amazingly, I still had room in my camera for more shots when we went onstage! (Actually, Peter goes onstage at the beginning - Ged and I
go under the stage, where a whole world of activity is going on, before and during the show.)
Whew, that's a lot of photos for one show. I might go easy on tomorrow's Frankfurt concert. I've also been meaning to
put together a page of who's who on the tour, so it's clear who these crew and musicians are in the photos. A day of is
coming up on Monday - that's how I'll spend it.
