July 24th - we head off to the East Coast of Italy, for a small show in Cupra Maritima.
Not much to report on this show - nice playing, small but nice audience.
The place certainly had their van covered with ads for the show!
Now we enter an unusual part of our tour - due to some cancellations, we have two full days off, and, with the next show on the West coast,
we can spend the days and nights pretty much where we want.
We chose to stop in Perugia...
Yes, it would seem that sometimes life on the road is pretty darn easy!
Next stop: Lucca!
I'd played here with Peter Gabriel, in a central piazza. Always wanted to come back and spend more time.
A little Puccini concert...
Well, sooner or later you do have to do some shows! So we next pulled into the venue at Sestri Levante, near Genoa.
(Yes, we've noticed that the poster is never right!)
But a nice venue for sure - named Villa la Cinquantina. (and yes, it's still hot!)
The show was very nice, as was this venue... and the people very kind to us... though not the smallest of our shows, it had an
intimate feel to it that was quite special.
I know this is seeming more a travel diary than a show report, but our next day was exceedingly scenic.
Up very very early for 3 hr drive to Rome's airport. Then a flight to the South of Italy, and a short drive to the town we'd be staying in.
However, we found when they drove us to the venue that it was over an hour away, up and up winding roads. How they manage to have a festival there is
puzzling, but the place is great to be in, and it was a rare treat.
Setting up is still a toasty endeavor!
The town is named Martirano Lombardo and it's festival is Rock On!
As soon as I could, I hiked around, to enjoy the view.
Night fell on the quiet square where the show would be. We thought there wouldn't be many people attending.
But when we went on, there were lots.
Next, in the morning we'll fly back to Rome on the Blue Express flight, then get our van and go to L'Aquila for our
last show of the tour - at Blues Sotto le Stelle.
