March 7 - Buenos Aires, Argentina:
We flew in from Cordoba, and right outside the airport was B.A's river, the Rio de la Plata.
We're told it's the widest river in the world. (Looks like an ocean to me!)
And then, our hotel is on Avenida Nueve de Julio - the widest street in the world!
(The hotel is among those distant buildings... across the street!)
I wonder if we ate some Argentinian beef, if we couldn't become the widest Stick players in the world??!!
Anyway, this isn't quite a day off - we head in the afternoon to the radio station where we'll be tomorrow morning, doing an
interview and a half hour set live on-air, of our music.
Then, a nice night off, and I'm happy to see we're near the area I spent time in some years ago - tomorrow I'll
do some re-visiting of familiar sights.
March 8 - radio and day off:
Morning at the station, but no worries for our sound because we set up and soundchecked
yesterday.
Here's Mario...
After show (and a small interview) we had the afternoon off - I wandered over to Recoleta to visit my old haunt.
In 1994 King Crimson decided to base ourselves here in Buenos Aires for a month, rehearsing our new material, doing a number of club
and theater shows, and travelling around Argentina a bit (we'd recorded "Vrooom" and after all the live work on the material, we went
right to England and recorded "Thraak")
I found the cafe (la Rambla) where I had coffee every day during that visit.
Looked the same, but alas, not open.
And, down toward the cemetary, the tree I must have photographed 20 times, it's so striking. (Those photos were in black & white
film -- remember film? I've got those prints ready to include in my second Crimson photo book, of the 90's... if I ever get it done.)
And it's always pleasing to see that your shows are being advertised well!
