March 9 - Travelling to Uruguay:
I mentioned Buenos Aires river being the widest in the world. Today's travel takes us pretty much just
across that river (though up the Uruguayan coast a bit too, to Montevideo.)
It's the first visit to Uruguay for all of us in the band, and we're excited to see what it brings.
Well, we WILL be excited once we wake up -- this is the first in a string of 6am hotel checkouts, so I'd guess we're going to be
straggling around for the rest of the week.
Got all our bags and pedals into the van, then drove to the harbor - great ships here -
Then on the water -- the trip is pretty normal if you stop thinking of it as a river, and just accept it as part of the Atlantic Ocean.
3 hours later, we're going through customs and immigration -- nothing new for us there, we've been doing that almost every day on this tour.
I didn't see enough of Montevideo to be any expert on what's here.
Just got to the hotel, and glad it was in a pretty area.
Then, soundcheck at the club, and ready to play to a new audience for us.
We decided to try something new tonight - Michael went out 15 minutes before the show, set up a loop and left it running
then for the start of the show we came out and jammed with the loop until starting our first song.
Kind of fun - we'll probably do it again.
The audience was great - very appreciative of our being there, and we were appreciative of their enthusiasm.
A nice dinner and some wine late at night after the show, with our very nice promoter, and our short stay in Uruguay is almost
over
(7am leaving the hotel today - after a 6am, I think that's a break!)
More soon.
