Winnipeg only the fourth show of the tour, but it's already half over!
And the band is getting much tighter with the material.
And, as I get more familiar with the material, I'm finding more times I can stop for a sec, pick up the
camera and get a shot.
There are still the ones where I don't set the camera right...
And Robert, at the monitor desk, can reach my camera now, and take shots with me in them.
Backstage... so much food...
what to choose...
(certainly the world's record for backstage marachino cherries!)
See what you're learning here about rock road life!!
Next show: Ottawa.
Sept. 2nd, Ottawa - warning: the following has very little to do with Todd's shows!
Regular visitors to my site may remember episodes of junk food reporting (mainly the Primati's sandwiches in Pittsburgh.) And I vowed to get some photos
of the distinctively Quebec junk food called poutine.
Well, having been unable to carve out the time to get one when in Quebec, or in Montreal, I've
finally done it here in Ottawa. In fact, I saw the shop on a walk late last night
'Delicious'?? I had been told it was pretty rough... (in fact, Kevin Parent had some brought in to our recording session outside Montreal years ago, and
it was indeed in the category of junk food!)
This warranted going back today, to see what high-end poutine could be like.
Well, as they say, there you have it!. Now you know what it looks like.
The brown stuff in the back of the plate (as opposed to the brown stuff in the front) is a veggie omelet - I thought I'd just get a side order of poutine,
didn't realize it'd come on the same plate.
What it is, (you can't tell from the photo) is french fries, covered with brown gravy, and, I guess, sprinkled with uncooked cheese curd.
The fries, not made crispy to begin with, are quite... well wet... from the gravy, so they don't taste much like fries anymore. Certainly called for ketchup!
Anyway, it's not so bad, and, stomach feeling like a bowling ball, I'm heading for soundcheck now. I would not eat this before a show.
(Later....)
The show went very well - they're better every night.
At soundcheck, a delay because the guitar amp for Todd was the wrong one - sounds had to be programmed in.
Hard to believe there are only two shows left - Montreal and Toronto.
More pictures soon - and it's time to start a new tour page
